Simply perfect.

User Rating: 9.8 | Madden NFL 06 PS2
Madden NFL 06 is by far the greatest offering from EA Sports in a while. The NCAA titles are great and they have the passion that the pro game does not, but the pro game is just so much better. The Truck Stick is a beautiful addition because it lends itself to the power runners that were underused in earlier releases. Before, you would be running with Jerome Bettis and have just a corner to beat and you have a touchdown, but with The Bus not being very nimble you had to go at him and hope that the computer let you run over the corner. Now, all you have to do it flick the right analog stick up and wham! you are on your way to the Promised Land. Another addition that I also enjoy is the elusive back juke, which lets you put a little confusion in the defender. Say you are Warrick Dunn and you have taken a sweep right, you patiently wait for the right tackle to make your hole and burst through. You spin past the outside linebacker then you just run past the corner, so now all there is between you and the endzone is the backside corner that has taken a perfect angle. You are stuck between a rock, the sideline, and a hardplace, the corner. Normally, in other versions of Madden you would just pray that you were fast enough to beat him, but now you need not fret, you have a hidden weapon. You see the corner come up and is about to make the tackle when you push the right analog stick back and you watch as Warrick stops in his tracks and jumps back, letting the corner run himself out of bounds, leaving you with no one stopping you from scoring. The final addition that I loved about 06 is the passing vision cone. Before you could roll right and decide "Hmmm, I think I am gonna throw no where near here" and you could heave it across the field catching your opponent off guard, leaving you dancing in the end zone and your opponent throwing his controller across the room, cursing and calling you a cheater. Now the game is more realistic because you have to look where you are throwing, or risk throwing a horrible pass that might get picked off. The vision cone is definitely not a handicap for the offense; a skilled QB will look off the safety right before flicking the vision cone over left and throwing a perfect post pattern for a quick six. SuperStar mode is also incredibly amazing, adding even more grandure to this game. Being able to control almost all of the aspects of your player is astounding, but it could still be better. Even so, I still believe that Madden NFL 06 is the best......at least until next year =]
