In fact, this is a great game, just with some magic balls, and statistics problems.
At least, during a game, you may notice some statistic issues and magic ball and man glitches. One example is about the points value issue; you can only get up to 255, not infinite. And there is some problems with redzone scoring; in some times, when you are in the redzone, and you score a TD or a FG, sometimes, it does not count as that. And remember, muffed punts and blocked kicks lost is not a fumble, which the game considers as it. As there are physics issues, a ball or player may go through them, or just magically teleport to another place, such as a kicking tee. Additionally, the kicking accuracy meter is not really going right, as they might be in an unexpected thickness or position, and about the color, as they might be white or black, or even yellow. Just while attempting a punt, sometimes, when you are trying to do a coaching strategy, the play goes in a mess. Worse, where is the coach? Where is the referee??
At least, the sound effects are very good in Madden, as crowd noise, player noises are more like real, as only just the stadium music is fake, very similar to the menu music and loading music. The commentator's sound effects are perfect, as he just sounds authentic as in a TV show. This game features many playlists, with their own offensive and defensive formations, each with their own plays, packages, and more. The plays are much like the plays that coaches draw, which is quite rough, as in field, they are much accurate than before. The music sounds beautiful, which is what their teams' real fight song.
And the graphics are more like the field in a real football field, and can show that it is day or night, sunny or snowing.
In fact, Madden NFL 09 is excellent, just with some flaws. Here is my breakdown:
