After popping in Madden NFL10 I merely thought I was playing the 09 version of the game. What's different are the graphics, new QB pocket move, and in between play animations. Starting with the graphics we have newly redrawn stadiums, football players, on field visuals. They are very nice but the gameplay comes up a little short with the graphics. When I play a game I feel like I don't have full control of executing plays. Wide receivers some times run their routes slow and really don't come out their breaks like real NFL players. The running games feels slow too, just don't feel that burst when you sprint down the field or through a hole. It looks like the running backs are jogging instead of sprinting. As far as controlling a QB, it feels the same as last year with the exception of using the right analog to evade a pass rusher. The zip on short passes are not as fast as I want them to be which hurts the flow of a passing play. On defense part of the game, it still feels the same as last year. There's a little more accuracy on pin pointing a tackle but the hit stick is still lagging. When play as a DB, I still feels like you really can't chase down and tackle a WR if he has half a step lead on you. I love football and this is the only game I can play that has the NFL license. Just like last year, EA needs competition from 2K to create a better game. It just comes up too short in gameplay, feel like I just got the game because I love NFL football.
