Good game, but the developers need to work to improve modes like superstar that could be highly entertaining
User Rating: 7.5 | Madden NFL 11 X360
I started my madden career when I picked up madden 04. Although I was not a heavy sports gamer at the time, I bought it, mainly due to the fact that Michael Vick was on the cover. (Note this was pre-dog fighting convict michael vick era). I was quickly sucked into the series, mainly intrigued by the nice Franchise mode. I continued buying madden year after year for my PS2 and then eventually stepped up to 360, where there was a significant graphics and gameplay quality increase. So I of course bought madden 11 this year, with high expectations. I find the gameplay alot more enjoyable. The graphics are great and the mechanics are highly improved. I find the juking system more challenging than just pressing up on the hit stick like previous madden games, but also more rewarding. When mastered, there is a wide range of spins and cuts that can be used to leave a would be tackler in the dust. It sets apart the rookies from the pros. I've also noticed that the play continues even after a ball is tipped. The players will run after a loose ball and try to catch it. I've noticed previous madden's attempt this in the past, but never with this much success. But there are some problems. I was deeply disappointed with the Superstar mode. It seems no different than last year's version. I find it stupid that the practices each week affect your stats in no way and you just quit whenever you want to. The developers need to incorporate more detail into the mode and bring out its high potential. But overall, I would buy Madden 11 over again. It is a solid game, with the potential to be an amazing game.
