"The latest entry in the MADDEN football series is one of the best yet!"

User Rating: 8.5 | Madden NFL 11 X360
Gameplay: This year, Madden NFL 11 introduces a new streamlined playcalling system called "GameFlow" which developers say, is supposed to cut game times in half! Well, in the games that I've played so far, this new edition really speeds up the games. However, it needs to be patched up. This new feature is loaded with problems! Usually, I found myself audibiling out to a different play. For example, I was the Cowboys and I went against the Redskins and the coach told me to run a HB Draw, even though the Redskins were showing blitz. So, I ran the play as called, but Haynesworth stuffed me behind the line for a 3 yard loss. So, as you can see, most of the time, this feature is ineffective. This year, the same modes that were in Madden 10 have returned, with some new additions. Now, you can jump right into Superbowl XLV with not having to go through the entire season. There is also a new Ultimate Madden team mode where you unlock packs of cards with coins that you earn through online play and microsoft points. However, this mode has no long-term appeal because it's really, really boring! All you do is buy packs of cards to unlock new ones, which isn't very fun. There is also a new 3-on-3 online team play which, for the most part, is really fun.

Presentation: This year's presentation adds a new commentator in the booth in Gus Johnson. His announcing is really good and he adds a lot of excitement to the on-field action, although it does get repetitive. On the other side of the ball, Cris Collinsworth is back. But, his commentary could've been cleaned up a little. Most lines are the same from last year, which is strange since EA Sports had plenty of time to add some new ones. The on-field action generally runs pretty smooth, except for some framerate hitches and other quirks that should be fixed with patches soon. Another high point of the game is the soundtrack. The combination of AC/DC, Guns'n Roses, and Ozzy Osbourne blends together really well!

The Verdict: Overall, Madden NFL 11 is a really good football game that's meant for the hardcore fans. The AI has been completely revamped and the gameplay is much smoother than last year because of the new locomotion system! This year, you'll want to leap way up to catch the winning Superbowl touchdown!
