This is an offer you can't refuse!
You are Vito Scaletta an italian man that came to the states with his family. Basically he is just a boy when he arrived and his family doesn't have a gangster background and ends up doing small crimes as a kid but then was arrested, forced to enlist into the U.S. Army to fight in WWII and became a war hero and now full time mafia member. He soon finds out that mafia life ain't all glamorous.
Story:
The whole story was great right up to the end but in my opinion I would have expect it to be something better like the types of ending you would see in the GTA games. All I have to say is that this story is not a happy one. It is dark and it proves that life as a man in the mafia is not glamorous. For example one of your buddies ends up dying on you in the worst way ever thinked possible bounds to build rage into Scaletta driving you into gunplay and fist fights. Also there are a few comedy moments as well such as sewer water plowing down to you and you end up smelling like crap! But overall a great story about a dark mafia society but, the ending.... well play the game and you will see.
Gameplay:
The gameplay is similar to that of GTA IV but with the missions being straight forward and no side missions such as races or errands. It really hurts the playability of the game and the game progresses by chapters so pretty linear. Also Playboy Megazine posters from the 1950's are scattered all around the city and also wanted posters with the actual criminal mugshots from the past are also scattered so if you want to spend your time hunting these down sure go for it. But if your not then expect a really linear gameplay experience. You can also customize your cars but the customization options are limited such as your license plate, tires and paint and two levels of engine upgrade. But even with a linear gameplay each mission you are given is always different from what you did before so I guess that kinda evens it out for the game.
Graphics:
The graphics seems alright and lifelike but it looks a little out dated by this time hey at least its a huge improvement from the last mafia game. Main characters are highly detailed and the environment is something you would expect from a game that uses GTA as its base.
Summary:
The game is not perfect but hey its good to be considered a brother of GTA don't you agree? If they are going to make a Mafia III in my opinion they should add in more things to do like street races, and add in side missions as well for the people who would like to take a break from the story. But overall it is worth being played due to a good story.
The Verdict:
Story: Chapter based and has a great progression.
Gameplay: Similar to GTA and self explanitory
Score: 8.5/10
