The Mafia series has taken a step for the worse by building on the endgame content from Mafia 2, which was to slowly take control of districts and eventually the whole town. The big difference being that the decent endgame activity of Mafia 2 now is the whole game of Mafia 3. It gets boring and repetitive very fast and you are not paying attention to who you are killing and why, you are just following the marked line. In terms of gameplay, the game feels and looks like a lower quality clone of GTA/ Saints Row with less content.
The soundtrack is excellent and the story and characters are good just as we would expect from a Mafia series game. However, I personally prefer the former "Italian/Sicilian mafia" style setting from the previous games to this Rambo from Secret Services plot. The main character targets a younger audience. It also hurts to see a former Mafia character make a comeback in this game as a wuss.
You can collect some posters and electronics for your wire taps and upgrade your sub-bosses abilities for more perks, but all in all, there is not enough to keep me going after around 20 hours of gameplay. So this is where I stop playing this game, shaking my head in discontent, thinking about the masterpiece that was Mafia 1 and hoping to see a resurgence of that type game in the future. I would suggest people interested in buying this game to play GTA V instead.
