It's been a long run since MVP 2005, but PC's finally have a baseball game again!
To my even greater surprise, it was only $20. Can't go wrong with that, even if the game sucks.
But it doesn't, and that's what's exciting. For once (and I do mean "once" in the Joe Piscipo "Johnny Dangerously" way), I felt like I was undercharged.
Granted, if you have anything other than an XBOX 360 controller for your PC, be ready to spend quite a few miserable minutes figuring out how to make your controller work. I had to remind the game that I had dual analog dealies on my Logitech Rumblepad. It would have been nice for a little love on that regard.
Once that uncomfortable fiasco was over, however, it was baseball time. The announcers are by no means annoying yet (I'm sure they will be), which is a relief from MVP 2005. The animations are pretty stellar. Gameplay is about as comfortable as a baseball game can be, which is nice when you get to play with a three dimensional person. Difficulty is variable (good for kids and curious housewives). The graphics are wonderful and not overdone and the framerate is smooth with a semi-decent computer (some antialiasing options would be nice). The sounds of the game are... well... sounds of baseball, not too hard to screw up.
If you like baseball even a little bit, and your sick and tired of MMO's, this is a nice little escape from the grind. And even if you don't care for baseball, this is 20 bucks. Give it a whirl.
