Could of been a lot better...
I had played maplestory for 2-2.5 years at the most when I suddenly lost interest in playing the game.
The graphics are actually quite good for a side scroller and they're more than you'd expect from a free MMO. However, this game looses all color when compared to any real MMO based on a couple of simple things to add to a game to ensure you're getting more people and making them happier:
1) You MUST add a PvP function.
2) You MUST NOT make it so that it would take you Eons to level single levels without playing the game for about 10 hours on end.
These are two major aspects you need to successfully have a MMO... and it doesn't have it, therefore it falls short... especially when you have the best items in the game.
It's quite innovative... but will still leave you bored senseless (unless you like leveling hours on end without seeing actual people) after you realize there's no point to the game except to KS (Kill steal) some people... and even that gets lame after awhile due to the no PvP part. So... it's worth a go... but don't expect too much after a while.
