Strangely addictive, but don't be fooled.
User Rating: 5.5 | Maple Story PC
MapleStory is a mediocre game with mediocre graphics and mediocre gameplay. It's boring if you play it alone, but it's strangely addictive with friends. Making friends on MapleStory is easy, but it is quite difficult to make intelligent friends and the intelligent people tend to leave the game after a while. The graphics in MapleStory can be easily reproduced on Paint and though it seems cute, it is ridiculously simplistic. The way you play the game is rather simple to learn; after all, it's simply mashing buttons on your keyboard over a long period of time, gaining levels (which usually takes months to do). Killing the same monsters for a month and longer becomes rather repetitive and the amount of people that harass you verbally and 'physically' is astounding. This makes the game rather unbearable most of the time.
Overall, MapleStory is a rather mediocre game that pretty much sucks your life from you. It's fun for a while, but all players usually come to a realization that the game is not as cracked up as it seems to be; I find it to be a truly strangely addictive game that will relieve you of any social standing that you have, if you cannot control how you play the game.
