easy to pick up and play, addictive, with amusing animations of your favorite Mario characters, it's worth getting

Yet another fine Nintendo sports game joins the ranks. Mario Golf has a wonderful presentation, playing up the Mario theme in a variety of settings, such as the Mushroom Kingdom, a desert, an ocean-side, even Bowser's Kingdom (which is extremely challenging at times). The sounds are great, each character has 8 taunts and encouraging phrases to throw at your opponent, and they also have various reactions to their performances on any given hole (Petey Piranha even barfs if he plays poorly enough). The game play is addictive. It's relatively easy to get the hang of, and I like the idea of inputting different button combinations at the moment of impact to say...put top or back spin on the ball. The variety of camera angles when on the green is enjoyable to watch, and add suspense at times as the ball ever so closely approaches the cup. This is a game, that even if you master, you won't win all the time if you play the most challenging courses on the hardest difficulty. There's also a good variety of mini-games, such as having to shoot through a set number of rings, or collecting coins. My only gripe is that there's not a large amount of unlockables, and there's only 4 characters to be unlocked, and you don't even have to challenge them to earn them. Still though, for what it's worth this is a great game of golf. So, if you want a game of golf that's easy to just pick up and play, that looks good and has funny little animations, then go ahead and grab this one. I did and I don't regret it for a second, and at less than 30$ these days, you can't go wrong.
