If you think golf is boring, think again.
First of all, the gameplay. Very simple; push the A button to start a meter that runs from right to left at the bottom of the screen. Press either A or B [for different effects like backspin and such] to make the bar go back to the right side; this first action determines the shot's power. Then, you have to stop the bar at a mark next to the end of the bar at the right side; this will determine the shot's accuracy. Very simple, but no matter how many times you try it, it never gets boring or too easy. There are power shots, the wind also affects the speed and direction of the ball, there are different types of ground [like deep grass, bunkers, etc] and these factors keep the game fresh and varied for the most part.
Is it slow? Well you can always skip shot animattions for CPU shots and even your own, so don't worries there. The gameplay is solid, challening, and addictive.
The graphics are very good, and the sound is good too but it doesn't sound very "golfy", if you know what I mean. The replay value is quite high, since there are well over 5 gameplay modes that range from Quick Play, Character Challenge, Stroke Play, Mini-Games, Multiplayer...very high replay value.
So there you have it. You can find this game for $20 new since it is a Player's Choice, and for good reason; it's certainly one of Mario's best representations of sports, ever.
