The fact that it's a Mario game may appeal to you - or the fact that Luigi is the star - but it's not that great.
So, for the first time, Luigi gets his chance to steal the spotlight. But wait. Does Luigi's appearance bring down Mario's rep or does Luigi's spotlight-stealing draw people away from Mario in the game? Well, quite frankly, it's your call. But, from what I've heard, it was a bad attempt. I played it myself and I learned, the hard way, that it was a waste of money - to rent (hard to believe, eh?).
The storyline was pretty original but the ideas and the way your progress into the game is lame. I, myself, did not rent the game with an instruction manual so it took me forever to figure out, first of all, the whole point of the game, how to get around, what to do next, how to move in the game, and, well, you get the picture. My point is, without the instruction manual, you're on your own and it'll take a while before you figure out the controls alone much less the points of the game and how to advance in it.
Secondly, in my opinion, the game is quite boring, so much so, that after the first or second day (I can't remember; it was a long time ago) I rented it, I took it back. I was so fed up with trying to figure out what to do and how to get around I just gave up. Besides, even if I could, I found the game pretty lame so it was pointless for me to try anyways.
Overall, this game wasn't as bad as some other games I know, but it easily bored me and if you find boredom amusing and fun, then give this game the highest rating possible.
