One of the most entertaining and enjoyable experiances I ever had on the N64.

Mario Kart 64 was the first game I owned for the N64. I therefore must admit I have huge prejudice towards it. That said, this game is amazing. It is easily one of the best games to play as a group, right up there with Super Smash Bros. The Gameplay is fairly straightforward, and after an hour of play, almost everyone knows exactly whats going on. There is a wide variety of courses and weapons, everyone can enjoy racing as their favorite character, and learning the subtle advantages and disadvantages of each. Graphically, for the N64, Mario kart 64 set the benchmark of what the system would be consistanly capable of: Fun, fluid graphics that were varied and colorful. Nothing too fancy, but the system runs the game quite capably with lots of fun, cartoony levels.
Audio-wise, the game has some of the most enthralling soundtracks I have ever come to know, and the cartoonish sounds match up nicely with the graphics to create a pleasant, even video-audio experiance.
Personally, this game is one of the best games on the most widely accepted best system ever made. My friends and I still play it to this day whenever we have four guys together and we are looking for some old school fun. Definately one of the best games I have ever played. Best played with four friends.
