Gameplay: Most Nintendo fans cannot deny that Nintendo does a good job on the Mario Kart series. Ever since Super Mario Kart appeared on the SNES, Nintendo has been releasing games based on it for all of Nintendo's systems afterwards. Mario Kart: Double Dash makes some good improvements that make the series even more fun. As many people can tell, now you can have 2 characters on one cart. One character drives and one uses weapons during the race. This time you can hold 2 items which make things more interesting. Also, some weapons are exclusive to certain characters. For example, if you choose Mario, his special weapon is a set of red fireballs. If you choose Donkey Kong, he throws a big banana. Also, depending on the character combination you choose, you can choose any cart of your choice to drive. As usual, Mario Kart games feature a Grand Prix and a multiplayer mode. The brand new stages bare a slight resemblance to other stages in other Mario games. One thing to mention though: The multiplayer arenas aren't quite as big as they were in Mario Kart 64 for the N64. As you play through MK: DD, you will unlock several new stages and new carts, as well as 4 hidden characters. There is a lot to do in this special sequel of the Mario Kart series. Nintendo, overall, has done yet another good job on a Mario Kart game. Graphics: Nintendo also took notice by making the graphics look nice for its current system, Gamecube. The environments have nice colorful details and are imaginative. The carts and characters look pretty nice as well. The frame rate is also worth mentioning. Even while going fast past a lot of other racers, it never seems to slow down one bit. In other words, Mario Kart: Double Dash looks good. Sound: The music is what you'd expect from a Mario game. The tunes are catchy and fit in at each race course. Most of the characters have their own voices, which sound entertaining and well-fitting. The sound effects are reused from other Mario games, which is okay. A good soundwork from Nintendo. Conclusion: Nintendo seems to make Mario Kart game when ever they release a new system. This is why MK: DD was born with upgrades. Compared to other Mario Kart games, MK: DD is the 2nd best. This is because the game features good upgrades along with the same good Mario Kart formula that everyone loves. Along with some other Nintendo Gamecube games, such as Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Mario Sunshine, Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, ect., Mario Kart: Double Dash is a must own for Gamecube players. Pros: -Same good ol' Mario Kart feel -The upgrades make this one more fun then ever. -Good graphics and music Cons: -Once you unlock everything (and you will) the replay value strikes down.
