Mario Kart: Double Dash stands shoulder to shoulder with the (equally great) N64 and SNES iterations.

Double Dash is a spectacular Mario Kart game made exclusively for the GameCube. It manages to keep what was great about previous mario kart games, such as pickups, drifting, slick presentation, tight controls, mario themed locations, and so on, but it also manages to push it to the next level, however, featuring time trial ghosts, unlockable content, two slots for holding pickups, new multiplayer modes, kart stats, Lan capabilities, and, of course, plenty of brand new tracks. The improved graphics, animation, and AI are all welcome improvements over the previous mario kart game (mario kart 64), and make for a fresh experience.
That said, this is still essentially the good old Mario Kart. If you loved the previous ones, stop reading this and go buy Mario Kart: Double Dash, 'cause you are going to love it. If you are some kind of pervert, however, and didn't like the previous games, I recommend you go see a doctor about that.
