Pretty boring single player but you can use it to improve and find a good character-kart/bike combo. Online is fun to play and if you do good it's really addicting. If you don't do good, online isn't fun at all. Local multiplayer might be the most fun part of the game if you can get people who are decent at mario kart. You can do battle or a race and solo or teams. Bikes are probably better than karts because you can do wheelies. Good but not great courses. I actually like the retro courses better because they take more skill and don't depend completely on items. I don't really like the items in this game because so many of them screw you over if you're in first place. The blue shell is the worst item ever and it never helps you when get it, it only helps the people in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th place but never the person who gets it. It's sometimes fun to set a fake item or hit someone with a green shell because these items actually take skill, not just pressing a button and going from last to first like the bullet bill does. Overall, a good but not great game, but probably not worth it to only play single player without online.
