Another good choice for multiplayer, but as with all the other titles in the series... there are gameplay issues.

User Rating: 7.5 | Mario Party 6 GC
I have owned 4,5 and 6 in these series of games and I like them. Mario party 4 was the first I played and I had some really fun multiplay with it!
So then I went and gave number 5 a try, hoping to see improvements in the formula. But found NONE. It was worse.
Then the 6th piece came out, and I had my doubts, but the new mic-games had me intrigued so I had to give it a shot.

It's a slight improvement over the prequels but still has the same problem as with ALL THE OTHERS!

And what is it? What is the problem with all the Mario party games?
LACK OF SKILL DEPENDANT GAMEPLAY! That's what!
I mean SKILL is the essence of what makes multiplayer games entertaining, right?
You play, you get better and then you kick your friends butts! Until they too have played for awhile and they can give you a good match!
Well... You can play THIS game a hundred times over and then your first-time little-sister beats you because of one factor, LUCK!

I think I can sum up the entire series in one word actually.... yep it's LUCK!

Mario party games are all about throwing dice, moving over a board and playing minigames! And the minigames are what makes these game good! They're all very diffrent and of diffrent quality and some are super-fun! So what if we could customize the game so we can play the games we want to play? Nope. There are custom variations but none that remove the luck-factor.

The minigames are important, and if you're skilled you can win maybe a 50% of them, but then there are the other 50% that you can win by maybe choosing the right rope to swing, pressing the right button and keeping your fingers crossed etc. And that's just awful.

The mic games in this particular game was fun, for awhile at least. But it feels more like it's implemented just to make you curious. Well, worked on me ;-\

Graphics then. Yeah it is pretty good, but nothing special and it has not improved much between MP4 and MP6. It has always had a nice cartoon style and it works but I think it's amazing how little is done to improve on it.
It definitly COULD look better!
Sound is very simplistic, nothing that stands out.

As a multiplayer game, it is fun! You can play with friends for many hours and have a good time. But in the long run you'll probably notice just how much luck plays in when you play and that's when you start to get bored.

Ok, so what about singleplayer? It's seriously lacking here! Solo-mode offer a few mini-boards for you to play and it aint all that fun. The single play in MP4 was much better i think!
So Mario Party games is all about multiplay! That's where you'll have the most fun with it.

I have my eyes now on Mario Party 7 but I stay my hand this time, I feel it will just be more of the same. New minigames and new boards, practically no improvement on graphics or sound or gameplay.
And that's what these series need, NEW Style! MORE custom options!

********************** AND LESS LUCKY GAMEPLAY!!!! ******************

Or it's like chewing the same flavored gum over n over again.

If you've never played a Mario Party game before and feel like you're aching for some multiplayer action! GET THIS GAME! (or maybe 4,5 or 7?)
If you own ANY of the other Mario Party games... DO NOT GET THIS GAME.

I dub this game Solid! Because the series is just not moving in any direction what-so-ever! (Hmm, mic-games, huh? Try harder next time)
