Not the best Mario Party game out there. The quailty of the game is simplistic and very much unoriginal. Ok multiplay.
What you do in each game is roll the dice block, numbered 1-10, and you move that many spaces. Be warned that landing on a space can do all kinds of things. Blue spaces increase the number of coins by 3, red spaces you lose 3 coins. There are Battle spaces in which you can play against someone for a chance to steal their coins are star/stars. There are DK spaces, in which you play minigames to try earn coins. Nothing will be lost when landing on a DK space, only something to be gained or nothing at all. Next, there are Bowser spaces. Landing on those and losing to that minigame can cause you to lose 1/2 or possibly all your coins, or even a star. You don't gain anything by winning the game, though. There are also Koopa Kid spaces. A Koopa Kid will pop up and do something that may hurt or help such as dividing coins equally, trading you to another place on the map, or shuffle orbs.
Orbs are items you can use to help you on the quest. Common orbs involve increasing your # of dice blocks to roll or increasing the # on that one dice block. Some will steal coins from other players, some will just cause them to lose coins. There are some great ones, though. Every character will does have one unique orb that can be obtained that only 1 or 2 characters can get. In each stage, there are Orb Shops you can visit and purchase some orbs to use with the coins you collected. Total, there are 29 orbs in the game. Next, we have Party Cruise. You pick one of 12 characters- Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, Birdo, Toad, Toadette, Wario, Waluigi, Boo, and Dry Bones. Again, generally the same rules apply. Only this time, you can choose more settings. You can select a certain group of minigames to play, 10-50 turns in multiples of 5, free for all or a team battle where you have a paired team, and the option of a Mic. A Mic is a microphone that you can take command of in a few games. These games can be played with the controller. However, the Mic doesn't always respond to the commands you give it. Other times it reacts slowly. Personally, I think it's better off using the controller. Oh, every 5 turns Bowser will show up and do some dirty deed. He may steal coins, steal a star, destroy bridges or windmills, sink an island underneath lava. It depends what arena you choose to play on. Finally, we have the Deluxe Cruise in which 8 people can play on. It is overall the same as Party Cruise with more games available designed for 8 players.
The downside of the game is that throughout the game you will rely heavily on luck. Luck actually plays the biggest factor in Mario Party 7- from the # rolled on the Dice Blocks, to the orbs, and even some of the minigames which rely completely on luck. The game can turn around completely in one turn. Furthermore, the game can seem slow and boring. After playing these games, you'll earn points depending how many minigames you played and how well you did. You can swap points for tips on the game, souveniers, a couple unlockable characters (Birdo and Dry Bones), and a few other things. The souveniers and tips are not very helpful at all, leaving more than 1/2 the things on the shelves to be completely useless and not worth the time or effort into collect them.
The greatest thing about this game is that there are more than 80 minigames to play from. Most are 4 people going against each other. Some are 1 vs. 3, others are 2 vs. 2, and of course there are a few 8 player minigames. These games can be played at any time you want once you unlock them. There are a few minigame challenges to play other than the cruises playing, but they are all generally about the same thing: Beat every minigame you can. Like in cruises and these minigame modes, you can choose the CP difficulty of Easy, Normal, Hard, or Brutal.
Graphics- It's all completed, but entirely simplistic. Nothing stands out. Just simply make put something there and not put any detail or texture in it. Sound- Again, nothing stands out. You'll only hear about 5 different voice effects on each player in the game. The music is forgettable and has very few sound tracks.
Value- You'll spend less than 10 hours on Solo Cruise, leaving only multiplayer mode. Like I said, there's not a whole of collectibles to get. However, you can go to the minigames at any time. Tilt- Only Mario Party fans should own this game. If you are a first time player, I would actually reccommend getting a different Mario Party game; maybe 4, 5, or 6. Overall, nothing new at all in Mario Party 7. It's old and unoriginal. This is Wiifan001... signing off.
