You either like Mario Party or you don't. This is a great, fun night of game playing with friends and is worth buying.

This might sound strange but I actually don't like Mario Party that horribly much. I only like it in the context of playing it with friends. If you want a great night of silly fun and laughing and pseudo-competitiveness, then by all means make sure you buy it. It's fun. You choose a character and play against other characters in a big multiplayer board game, and there are several, like a jungle board or a train board. You hit a block and move spaces and in the meantime, all manner of interesting things can happen to your character. You might eat a peice of candy that gives you a special temporary power, or be moved to another space, or shot out of a cannon. And after everyone moves, you all play a random mini-game, and they can be extremely innovative and off the wall and fun. Even though you collect things to win, your points can change out of the blue for no reason and if you're truly competitive and playing for more than just fun, this arbitrary method of point calculation is kind of annoying. By the end of the game, the winner is announced and it may or may not be who had the most points during the game, because you get bonus points for off the wall things at the end. So, anyone can win. And that's what makes it fun. Sometimes, a game does tend to seem a little too long, and I wouldn't mind seeing Mario Party have shorter games.

This is highly recommended to play with friends, it's fun, it's colorful, and you never know what to expect.
