One of the best and wackiest games of tennis around.

Hands-down Mario Power Tennis is the best game of tennis on the gamecube. Yeah I know it's also the only game of tennis on the game cube but MPT can easily hold it's own with solid tenis gameplay and a new spin on the tennis basics, MPT will please mario fans as well those who actualy care about the tennis. The major addition to MPT is the power shots. Each character has both a power shot which can be used to hammer the ball(literally if you play as mario) down your opponents throught and a defensive shot which can bring right to the ball even if you are on the other side of the court. While some may argue that this detracts from th game, It really adds even more strategy to the game and makes you think even more about what type of shot your putting over the net. The graphics are suprisingly crisp and the animation is top-notch. It is interesting to note that there is a good amount of voice work done for the game as most characters actually speak when they win or loose. The sound though is nothing particulary special though. Fitting, though not extraordinary. Also there is not much to do in the single player mode besides get all the characters to the star ranking and play through the tennis mini-games(which range from stupid to addictive). So after a while you'll probably want to bring a friend. All said though, MPT is truly a high quality Nintendo title and worthy of your purchase.
