Another popular sport is made better in the mushroom kingdom

User Rating: 8.7 | Super Mario Stadium Miracle Baseball GC
Let me start off by saying that nintendo has succeeded in taking another popular sport and making it better. I would never play a baseball sim, but a baseball game with barrels hitting outfielders, fire-covered balls (please dont take that in the wrong way), and quirky campaign is good fun in my book.

Gameplay: Great fun. As said above, they take normal baseball rules, and add a bunch of twists. Pitch with bowser and you can throw a bullet bill to trick the batter. Play in wario's field and a sandstorm may turn a fowl ball into a double. The list goes on. Exhibition mode, the mose common, is good for 1 or two players to play some warped baseball in. The AI isnt half bad if you play by yourself, and playing with a friend is even better. This mode is just a normal game of basrball (with the aforementioned twists tacked on). Then there's the campaign, where you take a captain and build up a team to take on bowser. It definitely adds some fun, and has a couple of rpg elements added in (teammates get better as they play). It's good fun, and necessary to unlock the last field for exhibition mode.

Outside of those, there's a toy mode, which isnt that great, but it allows 4 people to play. basicalyl, ytou take turns batting and catching, trying to get coins and points. It's alright if you want to paly with a couple more friends, but you'd be better off doing a tournament with exhibition (Note: the game doesnt have a tournament mode, i just mean that you could organize it yourself).

There are also some minigames, which are fun for a bit, but nothing special. You'll also end up playing them a bit during the campaign. They consist of things like hitting the baseball into barrels or pitching through some walls.

Overall, the gameplay is great fun, and has that quirky nintendo charm that any real gamer will love.

Graphics: Same character models as every other mario game, but theyre still good. The course slook nice, but arent anything special. The best effect is probably the fire surrounding a ball when mario does his special pitch.

Sound: Eh, same nintendo sounds as you'd expect, but they get annoying sometimes.

Value: Gameplay is definitely addictie, so you might find yourself playing exhibition match after exhibition match after you beat the campaign. Also, the toy mode and minigames tack on another hour or two of playtime in there as well.

Tilt: I just like the twists that are added to the conventional game of baseball. Plus seeing a character run around screaming on fire after trying to catch a fireball cracks me up every time.

Basically, if you're an avid nintendo sports game fan, buy this game. If you arent sure about it, then rent it, either way, you'll have a great time.
