This game had marvellous gameplay with a multitude of ind-depth shots such as slice, top spin power and Power Shots. Dropshots and lobs are a deadly combination and slices and top spin can easily confuse your opponent. Slices and Top spin are easily to pull off but it may take a while to get them right every time.

Power Shots are a great way to end a match. Offensive Power Shots usually auto-aim at the opponent's weak spots on the court but can be countered with a defensive Power Shot which will hit the ball almost anywhere on the court. These can only be used after a Power Shot gauge fills up and so, must be used sparingly.

These features alone set the foundation for a great tennis game. However, there's a storyline. This storyline just drags on too much and lessens the fun of the game. It is interesting to begin with, the main characters being kids trying to become gods of tennis. However, the opening matches are just too easy and you can just stand at the net and rally and the opponents will cop a blow in the face soon enough. The characters also seem extremely cocky and arrogant. This storyline was probably introduced to give the game a more RPG-ish feel but should've been more interesting with the characters going on an adventure rather than just trying to win tournaments.

During the storyline, you'll pick up exp. from winning matches and finishing challenges. This exp is used to level your characters which in turn allows them to hit harder, run faster and spin trickier. This system feels unnecessariliy complicated as the control aspect doesn't seem to do too much.

Throughout the storyline, you unlock various characters and minigames. The characters have different strengths and weaknesses but aren't too complex. The minigames on the other hand, are mainly unlocked in the Power Shot training gym. These each have three levels and have nothing to do with tennis. There's Rope Climb, Matching Pairs and even block-smashing with your head (*cough* Mario *cough*). These give a break in the onslaught of tennis matches. Other minigames are unlocked from matches between you and hardcore players that specialize in a certain stroke. These matches also have three levels and can be quite hard. In one, you have to play on a court with bounce panels so dropshots are easily missed if you dash forward too slowly.

The graphics of this game are simply amazing giving it a sleek new feel. The graphics also look great during Power Shots looking like summons from FF7.

The sound is quite good excepting the fact that the male player sounds a bit like Yoshi.... The music quickens up during the Game points making them feel erratic.

Overall this is a great game for all gamers. It would've been nice to see a more interesting storyline and more noticeable effects from the leveling system. Keep up the good work Nintendo!
