I must say, when I heard about this game I was as giddy as school girl. I'm a bit of a comic book geek, so I was looking forward to this game for quite some time. When I got it, I was very unimpressed by the game. I'll get to the good parts first and don't get me wrong, there are plenty of good parts. First of all, the controls for combat were good, I liked how it got away from brutal memorization and required some real skill to use. The graphics were good as well, I like the choice of a darker style of graphics to fit the new age of the marvel universe. The destructible environments and awesome marvel super heroes all reflected this very well.
And now the bad. The single player campaign is just awful, this was the main thing that bothered me. The controls, while good, don't translate very well to the single player. This makes it really difficult to finish it. The other annoyances were the small amount of unlockables(it's a fighting game people, you need more!), some character balancing issues and the occasional cheesy dialogue.
While not a horrible game by any means, I would suggest rental over buying it for the non-comic geek gamer population. I personally liked it, but I expected so much more. Moral of the Story: Don't have too high an expectation for anything, it will probably disapoint you.
