ignore what the critics say

any wii owner who loves marvel will have seen the mediocre critics reviews of the wii version of the game. ignore them. now, before I go into what this game IS, here's what it isn't: it isn't a hugely innovative title, it isn't going to win any awards for best graphics, and it isn't a cheapy slap-on for the Wii.

on the other hand, it is hugely entertaining. the character roster is impressive, but at the beginning you'll only have several of the characters to choose from, not that that's a bad thing. it motivates you to keep going. combat is mindless button mashing, which I love, but may put some people off. the in-game graphics aren't so bad, and they'll grow on you. the cinematics are fantastic. and another thing: the only reason I've spent less than ten hours playing the thing so far is that I've only had it for two days. there are two seperate campaigns to play through, with three difficulty settings. all together it'll take you quite a while. and then there are the characters themselves. I've played as about ten characters so far, and each one was balanced: Hulk was strong but sluggish and had no projectile attacks, bar fusions, Mr. Fantastic was weak but had good ranged attacks, and so it goes on. oh, and characters like deadpool and spidey will provide good comic relief. for example, deadpool often breaks the fourth wall, like when you select him he says "hiya, player!" and a favourite remark of mine is: "I'm killing indiscriminately.....and it's ok!" anyone saying that only a few characters are any good is lying.

so, all in all, if you can forgive the graphics and occasional moment of minor frustration, this is essential for all Wii-owning Marvel fans!
