One of the best multi player co-operative PS2 adventure beat-em-up games.
The game focuses on Dr.Doom, and him creating a confederation of supervillians, called the Masters of Evil. You start of with a set team (Wolverine, Spiderman, Thor (the Son of Odin!), and Captain America), and you battle it out to meet Nick Fury. The game has an interesting storyline with its good gameplay.
When in battle, the game allows a variety of moves. There is a combo attack (to do, surprisingly, combos), and a charge attack (which is charged to knock your opponent back). There is also a jump, and a grab, which allows you to hold-and-punch or do your special individual unique move.
The level-up system gives you a point to spend on a different attack, which can be a:
Melee-Melee special attack.
Projectile-Ranged special attack.
Charge-Attack that can be powered up
Radial-Attacks around you. Distance varies from level.
Debuff-Power up your yourself.
Power-Power up your team.
Special-Other attack. Variable.
Xtreme-A special attack which is caused by you/one of your party. This enables a strong (usually radial) attack which can have some side affects.
These powers are used by unlocking them, then assigning them to X,O,[], or Triangle (Only the attack "Xtreme" can be assigned to Triangle). These attacks are usually flashy.
From what I have said so far, the game seems perfect. However, there ARE somethings that this game lacks.
Firstly, its battle music is the same for the remainder of the level, and is very tedious to be heard again and again. Next, this game is relatively easy-long, requiring the best to complete it in 20-hours minimum, but still easy-and the game has some characters that are just BORING when they could be cool. For example, the Fantastic Four, apart from the Human Torch, are all rubbish. All the bosses are all the same, consisting of just 2 different varieties-one where you have to put a simple button input, and another which you have to continuously attack them, like chopping a tree with a woodpecker.
Other than that, the game is very good, is brilliant if you have a brother or sister who keeps complaining about how he/she doesn't get to play the PS2 very often, and is a must-buy for ALL Marvel fans-young or old, odd or straight.
