It's every fighting game fan's dream...if you can get past the online fighters using infinite and Guile...
For the great price of $15 currently on both PSN and XBLA, it is a bargain. If you are a fighting fan, you will spend HOURS playing this game.
With a total of 56 characters, the replay value is high, until you find your favorites who you will most likely be sticking to throughout your lifetime.
Within those 56 characters, you will obviously notice that some of them are broken. When I say broken, i mean BROKEN. There will be certain characters ( I won't say who ) that you will just not be able to beat, no matter your skill level. Infact, sometimes when I use one character out of the handful that are broken, people just ragequit and message me telling me things that should not be said.
This game easily frustrates people. If you are one of the easily frustratable people ( I know it's not a word ), you may want to pass on this.
Onto the music. It's nostalgic to some, to others , it's worse than playing Halo. The Jazz soundtrack does not fit into the fighting game...although I always take my opponents for a ride...gonna take you for a ride...gonna take you for a ... wait where was I?
Anyway, you can always just listen to your own music on both consoles thanks to the lovely developers who gave us the option to turn off the music, but not the sound. On the PS2/XBOX/Dreamcast ports, you couldn't turn down either, so if you wanted to listen to your music while playing, you wouldn't be able to hear Iron mans stupid noises, and Captain Commando shouting his attacks.
This game could be the only reason why some people buy next gen consoles. It's that good.
Just stay away from Guile... Guile, Charlie, Iceman, Juggernaut, Storm, Magneto, Cable, Sentinel, Psylocke, ...and the other 40 something characters!
