As an avid fan of fighting games, I finally get the chance to play MvC2 and it is definitely one of the best.

I never had the chance to play the original game on the Dreamcast so I went on the Internet and searched up the differences between the original and this re-release on the XBLA. Some modes that were present in the first version of this game is not there this time around and I almost regret not playing it before.

Also, Capcom mentioned that they made the difficulty harder for veterans of the game which I thought was not a very good idea for newcomers of the game such as myself. They simply should have added another harder difficulty setting. Instead now I can't even beat Arcade mode on Easy without using any continues. But, this is due to my lack of supreme skill AND the game's difficulty.

I play many fighting games and was surprised to see that the Easy difficulty is harder than most other fighting games' Hard difficulties which is a huge let down for people that not just want to enjoy the game but also want to gradually improve their skills and earn achievements without being someone in the Top 100 of the All Time Leaderboards. I am just speaking hypothetically: I'm not saying only those people can beat the game.

Aside from the lack of a few original modes, no tutorial, and the punishingly hard mode difficulties, the addition of online play is marvelous. There is almost no lagging at all except at the very start of the character selection screen, and every character is unlocked right when you buy the game. Although, this is good for online players who want to use a character right away, this also takes away the feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment when you spend a lot of time unlocking a certain character or all of the characters. But this is just a minor inconvenience.

I feel privileged to have played this game because I play or have played almost every other fighting game out on the market and have never experienced this one before and it really is possibly one of the best games in the genre. The graphics have not been remastered for HD but they have been given options to look much smoother and crisper along with the original classic look.

The character selection song is very interesting but nonetheless memorable. However, the jazz lounge soundtrack within stages and modes sounds very nice with the sounds like slam, punches, fireballs, and shouts. It reminds me of the electronic techno soundtrack to the Tekken series which is pretty awesome. Also, the variety of fighting styles and characters is so godlike. It's even a lot of fun to find your favorite characters and try them out and even if you don't like how they play you find someone you never thought you would use and end up falling in love with their total "badassness". (In my case I love using Jill Valentine, Felicia, and Cable.)

Overall the gameplay is phenomenal, the graphics and sounds are just as some people may have remembered them and still great, and the multiplayer is still fantastic. Whether its online of offline. This is definitely worth buying whether you're a newcomer or a veteran of the game. Newcomers will get the hang of it eventually. It may be tough but hang in there. :D

I just noticed there aren't any Fantastic Four characters in the game. :0
