It's almost perfect...except for the ending. Good thing you probably won't play the single player much.

User Rating: 9 | Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds X360
This is one of the best competitive fighting games ever made. I am a MvC2 veteran, albeit a less than skilled one, and I will say right away that while a tiny bit of that game's depth has been removed for MvC3, the improvements that this game makes over its predecessor make it the better game by far, and this game is BY FAR better than any other fighting game around as of now.

Presentation

Sound:
The music is awesome all around, and most of the character voices are spot on to their other adaptations. I would have preferred Robert Downey Jr. on Iron Man, but even without that, it's still dead on. This game's sound design REEKS atmosphere.

Graphics:
The characters are not quite as eye-popping as the trailers would have you believe, but they are definitely good looking, and it has that same old-school vibe that the graphics in Starcraft II have. The combat effects are PERFECT, but there are a few weak points in the stages...namely there aren't enough of them for the variety needed in a MvC game.

Gameplay:
Both Single and Multiplayer:
Just as a heads up before I launch into the two halves, the launcher move from MvC2 is now mapped to the A button (on the 360) or the X button (on the PS3) and the punch/kick stuff is gone in favor of light, medium or heavy attacks. It makes the game simpler, but a lot more fun, as your combos are easier to pull off and the slower pace of the game makes it easier to be competitive. The new aerial combo additions keep the game strictly in the hands of the elite, but quite frankly, the aforementioned launch button makes it a lot easier to learn.

Single Player:
I won't bore you with all of the details, you can read the main review on Gamestop for more information about what is included (and what isn't). The fact is that the fighting engine is spot on, and the gameplay, 90% of the time, is perfect. However, there's that nagging 10% that is the final boss battle. That battle feels rushed and shoehorned in, and to put it bluntly, it SUCKS. The only strategy consists of attacking whenever possible and holding the stick away when the boss (who isn't even that cool, why the heck did they pick HIM?) decides it's time to pulverize you. Add to that the lead in fight where you go 2v1 against a combination of AKUMA, DORMMAMU AND/OR WESKER (yes, you read that right), which is JUST AS CHEAP AS IT SOUNDS, and suddenly the big ending is a bust. It's NOT fun, and in fact, its INFURIATING, but it's ok, nobody playes MvC for the single player.

Multiplayer:
Again, the gameplay is what makes this game shine, and it comes to the front in a big way in multiplayer. Free of that god awful final battle, every fight proves just how balanced everything ELSE is in this game, which is incredible considering that it just launched. While there is a distinct lack of characters at this point, (my friends and I got to the point of playability with the whole roster after about 3 hours,) there will be DLC characters, and I would assume there will be a TON of them, since this game needs to at LEAST equal MvC2's sizable roster before the end. Until then, I'll stick to my Iron Man, Wesker and Akuma combo, because honestly, I could just keep playing this game forever with only those three. It's got that same addictive appeal that League of Legends has, once you find your niche you will want to just get really REALLY good at it.

Conclusion:
Don't buy this game if you don't have friends, but otherwise GET IT NOW. The multiplayer will remain fun until the end of time, and the single player is worthwhile enough for a run through. Find your niche, figure it out, and enjoy it, because this game rocks.

And Lastly, for anyone afraid of the game's simple mode...if a newcomer can beat you on simple controls while you are on normal controls, quite frankly, you are terrible. Period. Simple mode doesn't let you use ANY of the level 3 hyper combos, and that breaks it's playability because they are mostly UNBLOCKABLE. It also takes away most of the better basic combos, and without them, a newcomer has no chance. And if they play for about 3 hours and beat you consistently using normal controls, it's a sign of how much better the game is because the controls finally make sense.
