Go Morrigan!

User Rating: 9.1 | Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes ARC
So I just began using Win Kawaks, an arcade emulator for NeoGeo video games and Capcom video games, used on the PC, of course. Players say that Marvel vs. Capcom is a must-have for Kawaks. I didn't need a day or two to think about it, since I loved the bright colors and huge combo moves as a kid anyway. It turns out that I'm pretty happy about making the move I made.

Game Play ~ When looking at this game, you can look at it at different viewpoints. The most common viewpoints are: "This is another Street Fighter copy/rip-off," or "This looks AMAZING." (Don't fret if you don't have these viewpoints, though.) Truth is, this game looks amazing and it plays amazingly.

In the game, you choose from a selection of characters from Marvel and Capcom. Each side doesn't have very many fighters, but it'll make sense sooner or later. You must choose two characters (one to swap in for), and who doesn't like the deadly combination of Venom and Ryu? Or Morrigan and War Machine? Then, you get sort of a lesser helping character that you can call out to attack the opponent , but he/she has a limit to how many times he/she can be called out. Then, as for the dirty work, let your combos rip!

Combos are surprisingly easy to throw out, along with special attacks, which is what most people look for. Let us take s second to look at Street Fighter Alpha 3. Special attacks are harder to initiate (SUPER HARD on the keyboard, completely hopeless), and fighting is more of a "block and wait for an opening" thing. That's organized and neat, I must admit....but where is that action that we crave? It's at Marvel Vs. Capcom.

Graphics ~ Forget the topics of pixels and shiny-ness. In this game, anything is possible. Slash someone 1,000,000 times as a special move with Wolverine, or do the age-old kick-punch-throw-repeat special combo with Captain America, or unleash a giant Dragonball Z-like wave of energy. And finally, what do you get? A giant robotic fist commanded by Jin (a character) colliding into an enemy with purple heavens and neon-bright waves of hadoukens sent by a flying Ryu. It's completely ballistic, and it's a war between only about 2-4 fighters.

Sound ~ The music and sound effects sound realistic and they set the mood for heroic purposes and fear. Every time you defeat one fighter an the next one gets swapped in, there is a new theme song.

Overall ~ It's kinda short-lived if you play it on the old arcade machines...but that's natural, eh? You get one match, one chance, but if you're like ME, get an emulator to play this,. Just don't play Street Fighters Aplha 3 on your keybard. You'll freak.
