Back in the 1980’s this game was easily one of the best adventure games. It has one of the best cartoon artwork at its time. It takes just about one second to load every time you change location. This makes the game very enjoyable to play in the very first place. In those times, adventure games could have very, very weird and crazy puzzles. Masquerade did have some weird items and absurd puzzles but they were still quite reasonable in comparison.

The vocabulary recognition of the game was also satisfactory. Oh have you ever tried swearing in the game? You’ll learn from this game that swearing doesn’t get you anywhere, in adventure gaming and in detective work.

I have always enjoyed playing the adventure games from the same manufacturer. I like the fact that the game engine or program is very, very well designed, probably the best there is amongst competitors of its time, and the graphics, the most cumbersome part of the game, is not slowing the game down in any way at all. Unfortunately, there was only this game and Sherwood Forest. I haven’t got any other. Compared to Sherwood Forest, the quality of the graphics in Masquerade is almost as good. I still like Sherwood Forest better because it looks cuter and it has animation. It takes even less time to load. The puzzles are more logical than Masquerade in most cases. Both have a very surprising ending. In Masquerade, if you don’t lose yourself into being the detective, you might just figure out how to solve the game. You’ll see what I mean when you play it and finish it.

If you are an adventure game fan back in the 80’s, this is a game you should not have missed.
