Bit more linear? Yes. Bit more tense? Oh yes.

OK, so ME1 was great. There was a lot of junk (Did anyone actually use snowblind rounds?) and some fiddliness.

ME2 does the right thing and strips a whole load of that out - the weapons are clean and simple and do what you want them to do when you want them to do it.

It's a bit of a shame that the powers have been streamlined so heavily - but it does mean you're actually playing in the action most of the time (Save the incessant pausing for Dragon Age).

I like the ammo system - it forces you to make full use of all your weapons rather than sticking with one for 90% of the time like you could in ME1, particularly as you don't have to throw skill points at them to get the most from them. You'll be switching between weapons to keep your advantage and ammo intact a lot when things get tense.

Part of me wishes for a bit more exploration planet-side, but overall ME2 is rock solid way forward for the series.
