At last we meet the mysterious Shadow Broker.

User Rating: 9.5 | Mass Effect 2: Lair of the Shadow Broker PC
I've played Mass Effect 1 & 2 more times than I care to count. In my view the story is one of THE best gaming stories every devised. And this lastest dlc is by a wide margain the best.

I'll be brief on detail to make sure I don't mention to many spoilers.

First off the negatives, though very few.

I know there have been plenty of added weapons, esp. with the recent Firepower pack, but it would have been nice to have some extra; just to give us an excuse to play the whole game again.

The biggest problem is that the whole thing wants me to have more and more. I want Mass Effect 3 NOW!

And now the positives.

The story is brilliant, so far the whole thing has been, but unlike the rest of the game it's very movie like. Essentially imagine what CSI does to the standard cop show mechanic of making a small tv show into a small movie. A couple of new locations are added and bring the ME universe alive more than ever before. And if you're worried like I was that we'd get to the end and not find the Shadow Broker, instead his/her body double you're wrong. You actually do meet and it's not what I ever expected. Then again the devs' of the game could turn around in the future and say this was not the true Shadow Broker. But I don't think so, and listen closely to the language used, the whole thing (possible spoiler, or my sheer rambling?) it sounds that the Reapers may, only may be somehow connected. The only thing I'll say is remember what Soveriegn said, the dialogue is ereeily similar; and you'll understand.

The new fights are top notch as ever, the enemies are fun to fight and are tougher than most. The speeder chase on Illium is a damn good one. It completely changes the pace of the game and reminds of the chase in Attack of the Clones. It's very short but changes the dynamics of the game, hoepfully ME3 will have more of this.

It's great to have Liara back, esp. since her involvement in the game as a whole is rather lack luster. I never used her that much during ME 1 but she's a welcome sight.

Also once the actual dlc is finised, the Shadow Broker's Lair adds some very nice touches. It gives insights on some of the biggest characters in the game, and (spoiler), for me the one about Miranda was actually quite sad and though it's only a computer game, I felt a bit peeved. That could of course just be me.

The graphics are as good as ME 2 Ever was and the shots outside the Shadow Broker's Lair are particularly impressive, esp. with a big screen and decent bass system.

Put it this way, if you love ME in general you'll love this, the extra content, some interesting revelations and ramifications for ME3. All I can say is, Bioware, keep giving us this dlc PLEASE!
