Mass Effect 2 is a game and story worth your time, but won't overwhelm you with variety.
The beginning of the game is one of it's most impressive set-pieces, but the plot immediately following confuses. You are thrust into situations that feel very inorganic to react in the respective Paragon/Renegade actions. Shepard is the usual overly badass or a total ***** depend on your actions and you may become frustrated with dialogue. What follows is some of the best tactical RPG gameplay. It's fun to build your class based on your playstyle, and the options to keep money after playing into a second playthrough make it all the more worth it to rebuild and replay this game. However, many classes are far superior for different difficulty levels, and hardcore or insanity players will find biotic nearly impossible to succeed with at a higher level.
The story is compelling and interesting, though at times slipshod and thrown together. In the interest of not contradicting myself, loyalty missions are great for developing characters, but the final mission makes you rethink your decisions very quickly.
Overall, this game is fantastic, falls short in some story areas, but is compelling and interesting to play through again and again.
