A stunning game but shame the story doesn't flow as well as the original's.

I loved Mass Effect, it's one of my all-time favourite games and has been overlooked by a lot of people. Mass Effect 2 really build on the original and took it to the next level in terms of graphics, scope, drama and tight controls for the shooting sections.

I can't think of another game on the Xbox that looks better, even now at the end of 2011 (maybe Assassin's Creed Brotherhood or Dead Space... but not sure) and the sheer scope of the game is immense. A lot of people bemoaned the simplification of the menus and upgrades etc. but I think it's an improvement as I thought they were crazy and pointless: collecting hundreds of items only to keep selling them, junking them etc. is part of RPG gaming lore that I really could do without! I also think the feel of the game is spot on and it generally felt darker and a bit more sinister.

So, you can see I'm a massive fan - however there are a couple of things that just take the shine off it a little..... The story is fantastic but doesn't flow organically like it did in the original. I found the "here are people you should recruit, go and recruit them" then "now they're onboard, go and do their loyalty mission" mechanic a bit too contrived and obvious.

Graphics - Stunning - simple as that
Sound - excellent, atmospheric music with superb sound effects and outstanding voice acting.... Bioware are top of the class at this.

Overall - Amazing experience, loads of replay value. A better shooter than most actual shooters with all the bells and whistles on top!
