There are probably 1000's of reviews by now, but I figured I put in my two cents for what it's worth. I brought Mass Effect sometime back, but the RROD put an end to my game play, and I lost interest. Recently with the Mass Effect 2 hitting the game stores I decided to try again. So, Mass Effect got a second chance and it was well worth it. I had played Baldur's Gate and Dragon Age from Bioware and loved both games. But on with the review.

Story--- One of the best that engrosses the player into the lives of all of the characters in the storyline. They are believeable and represent alien and human behaviors in a realistic fashion. Voices are varied and really fit the characters. Only complaint I had was the music score being played the same time the characters spoke, making it a little annoying. Score 9.0

Graphics-- Not next gen but for a 2007 game reallly good. Everything was in sink with only a minor glitch or two. Environments were detailed and realistic for a science fiction theme. The game controls worked fine and I never became frustrated with the game play mechanics. Score 9.0

If you have never played this game then you have missed something special. The price you can not beat now and it is a good way of getting into Mass Effect 2. Everything you earned in Mass Effect transfers over to the sequel, so I understand, making a buy well worth it. I know most gamers will enjoy this game and I highly recommend it.

Game Play: It basically plays like any first person shooter and the mechanic are fast to pick up. You do not have to be a tech guru to understand what to do or level up. This was a great feature. The biggest weakness was the manuel override feature to unlock many of the games upgrades. I found myself unable to override alot even though I had a character in my party who was a master hacker. Frustrating to say the lease. Hope Bioware improved on this in Mass Effect 2 which is sitting on my game shelf. The Mako, only driveable land device, wasn't difficult to drive and it's weapons worked out fine. The special attack features of your party really set this game apart and were enjoyable to do and watch. Score 9.5

Music: Enjoyable for the most part especially the last song at the end. The only complaint was coupling the music score when the characters spoke that took away from the game narrative. Score 8.0
