Great game.

User Rating: 9.5 | Mass Effect X360
This review is going to be fairly short as I've already reviewed this game for the pc. The 360 version of Mass Effect is virtually identical to it's pc counterpart with a few technical exceptions. The 360 version is just plain better. The controls feel better, the graphics look better, there aren't as many glitches and in general it's just more enjoyable to me to sit on the couch and play instead of a desk.

For most of this review you can just check my pc review from a few months past. I found this bad boy in the bargain bin at Gamestop used so I picked up a cheap 360 copy and found myself amazed that it's better on 360 considering the time spent on the pc version. The biggest trump this version holds over the pc is graphics. I thought my pc version had splotchy pixilated graphics due to a lower powered video card (Geforce 8500), then I talked to some friends with far better pcs and discovered the ugly pixels are pretty much standard issue regardless what kinda power you're packing under the hood. At the highest settings this thing doesn't look right. On the 360 everything is smooth and pretty. Nothing seems out of place. However the 360 version does have a bad texture pop-up problem that the pc fixed. But it never detracted from the experience.

This is definitely a great follow-up to KOTOR and Jade Empire from Bioware. I can't recommend it enough. One playthrough will have you pining for the sequel, yet the story has a satisfying ending so you won't feel cheated for your 20+ hours of gameplay. Through and through this game will keep you locked in with player interactions, difficult decisions, strategic combat, and general awesome storytelling. Now that it's in the bargain bins there's no reason not to buy this puppy and play through before the sequel comes out. If you can, buy the 360 version, but if you must, the pc is still a great buy. It just doesn't quite pull off what the 360 does. Either way, play this game.
