Mass Effect is the greatest joining of Role Playing and Third Person Action, ever.

When I was a little kid I got KOTOR for my birthday and I did nothing but play that for months. So when I heard the Bioware had made yet another great Third Person RPG I jumped right in. Mass Effect is a Role Playing Game set in 2167 when the humans are trying to prove themselves to the other races of the galaxy, and you play as the first human "Spectre" which means Special Tactics and Reconnaissance. Then a giant army of crazy robots invades the galaxy and you have to fight them. The game play has you shooting people and robots with cool space guns, and using this thing called biotics which is like a Magic/Jedi Force sort of thing. The fighting is wicked and the story is even wickeder. Don't forget you KOTOR style squad of silly and angry aliens with fun personalities and customizable fighting styles. The game does unfortunately have some frame rate and texture pop-in issues, but if you have a really fast computer or you install this on your XBOX 360 Hard Drive you shouldn't have to worry about it. Go for it. Buy this game.
