Fun platformer you don't want to miss

Maximo..One of those games i had to get. The story is about Maximo, a knight who went off to war but while he was away Achilles your old advisor has destroyed your kingdom. Achilles has Destroyed the land, imprisoned 4 wise sorceresses, and worst of all stole your girlfriend. The cutscenes are short, sweet, and too the point. The first cutscene in the game lasts no longer then a couple minutes. That's pretty much what the game is about. Rescueing the sorceresses, your girlfriend, and defeating achilles, yet this game is so fun. The graphics are not jaw dropping but they withstand and fit the game nicely. The levels are fun, all the things you fight pretty much consist of the undead. You get to a world and have about 5 levels to complete in it and then of course a boss. You can collect numerous upgrades from throwing your sheild to a flaming sword. The combat? You slash undead things.. You can do a simple combo attack, some jump attacks, a stab, and you can throw your sheild. I think that covers the combat system. You can also block with your sheild. The game has a nice sense of humor in it. You have little bars of health, 3 of them maximum. If you lose a Health bar you lose armour. Get down to the last health bar and your running around in your boxers. Two you have a armour covering everything except your head. Third health bar will give you a helmet. You can collect pieces of armour in the levels. The game is, as gamespot said, a throwback to the 16-bit era and that hits the nail on the head. The game feels like a 3d version of one. From unlocking gates and chests to evrything in the game gives it that feeling. Maximo is a game you do not want to miss and a game that everyone can enjoy.
