I enjoyed this game for both in the single and multiplayer modes. Sure the story is kind of silly and the voice acting is pretty bad but it is a game not a movie. I care much more for gameplay when it comes to this type of shooter. Compared with Halo 2 it does not come close as a sequel but it does make Ghost Recon 2 look like a high school project. Sequels are hard to get right since gamers have very high expectations for the sequel to their favorite games. MA2 comes very close to hitting all the marks. The gameplay is pretty much unchanged, the tactics used in the first game still work in this one. Lots of strafing and shooting, plenty of action. The mechs seem to take a bit less damage in this iteration which takes a little getting used to. The graphics are a bit more polished in some respects especially the mechs. The sound is pretty good especially if you have DD 5.1 in your gameing space. The immersion factor comes more from the gameplay than the actual story since the story line is pretty weak and the voice acting made me want to commit fratricide by killing Briefing Boy and that silly woman who keeps trying to tell you what to do. That said the single player does OK but it is definately saved by the multuplayer aspect. Multiplayer is pretty decent with the exception of the difficulties of getting a game started. Lots of waiting around to get the game started on Live. Split screen grinder is great when you have a freind over or if you just want to practice taking on multiple mechs at the same time without listening to 12 year olds talking trash, it is also easier and faster to get the game set up and start playing. More maps would be nice, you get 2 extra on the limited edition disk and I am sure that eventually more will be available on DLC. Like the first MA you can bring a guest onto Live as well. The new features like the power armor and VTOL are alright. If you are good at playing quick finger button matching minigames you should be able to keep your mech from getting jacked by some fowl mouth 12 year old who has not quite mastered the use of profanity. If you play the right game modes the power armor and the VTOL can be very cool additions to the game since they increase the amount of strategy involved. I have not played the conquest mode yet but it sounds kind of cool, I will be checking it out when my schedule affords me a little more time. The only thing about the gamplay I do not like is not being able to choose which mech you want before the game starts. This has annoyed me a bit but it does add to the challenge and makes it so everyone in an online game is not running around in a Madcat or a Bowman. Overall this is a pretty decent sequel, if you played the first one and enjoyed it you should like this follow up since they didn't try and reinvent the wheel like the developers of Ghost Recon 2 did.
