An engrossing and fun war game
Very few FPS games have shined on the PS2 console, and European Assault comes under that list. For developing a war game, a lot of effort must be put in to get the textures and environments right. Although the lighting effects and surroundings were good, the characters and their facial expressions, could have improved. One of the key components in European Assault is its ability to co-relate the gaming world and the real world. What I am trying to say is that the gamer soon looses control of reality. The sound was also good. The guns look fairly good, but not much in variety. European Assault features ‘adrenaline mode’. Taking out your opposition in quick succession, headshots etc. add to your adrenaline meter and once it’s full, you can activate it. In adrenaline rush, you can do twice as damage and become invulnerable.
The missions are good, but gets hard at the ending stages of the game. Taking cover and shooting from bunkers really help and is the only way you will survive in the battlefield.
European Assault in the end is a well done game “A time for war, a time for honor”.
