A fun and enjoyable WWII shooter and as of now the best of the Medal of Honor series.
Medal of Honor: Frontline is probably the closest any game has come to in reinacting WWII. A reason for this is that EA worked with Steven Spilberg so they could reanacte battle scenes from the movie, "Saving Private Ryan" such as D-Day. With amazing graphics and stunning realizime, Medal of Honor: Frontline drops the bomb on all its competition.
The action in this game is intense and you don't have to wait to get to it either. You start out as private Jimmy Patterson. Your first mission is set on D-Day where you come in on a transport boat and storm the shores of Normandy. You feel like your really there, and the begining game sequence helps.
You are cramped in the back of one of the boats coming in on Normandy. As you do planes fly above and shoot down on you, trying to destroy some of the boats. You are very lucky when they strike the boat to the left of you but the boat sinks to the ocean floor. Once you make it to the beach a shell drops on your boat blowing you out into the water. You swim to shore but all around you your fellow soldiers are sinking with the weight of their gear, or being shot from the bunkers above the beach. Once your on the beach you must scramble around to find whats left of your team and try to make your way up the beach. Welcome to WWII.
I thought the graphics in this game were good but not great. There worth saying amazing, but excellent; I dont think so. The scenery is very detailed, including bombed and destroyed towns, to a dutch countryside. There are many WWII weapons in the game that were actually used back then. With 19 levels of gameplay it is well worth buying. Dont forget 4-player multiplayer, although it isnt HALO multiplayer it is good to have mutliplayer, if the game didn't then I would have givin it a much lower score. The music in the game is very good. It really makes you feel like your there, which is also one of the reasons the game's music is up for soundtrack of the year.
I did have some problems with this game though. The A.I. isnt so good. I've come face to face with a enemy soldier and when I get in close enough range he'll start to throw punches at me but if I back away he'll get confused and start punching air all around him. Also the soldiers will hide in obvious and open spots which are clear targets. Another thing I didnt like was that you start out with a team on D-Day. Then when you complete D-Day your Lieutenaut says your going solo and going on covert missions. Come on! Give me a squad and put me in some heavy combat! Don't dish me off to run in and kill hundreds of Nazis without getting a scratch. It is impossible for one man to take on hundreds of Nazis by himeself and live. If 20 guys can't kill 200 Nazis how is 1 man supposed to? If I wanted to be in covert ops I woulda signed up for it! The game is still very fun and you should enjoy it.
