Medal of Honor: Rising Sun is a World War ll shooter for the Xbox. You play as Joseph Griffin, a US Marine who is stationed at Pearl Harbor when the Japanese attacked. What follows is an incredible 10 minutes of video gaming action. First of all you just have to escape your ship. When you get to the top, you really see the terror. Jump on an AA gun and shoot down some Zeros. Sooner or later you will be thrown into the water and be picked up by a gun boat. From there you will jump on the boat's machine gun and shoot down more Zeros. The rest of the game turns out to be a basic FPS. You will fight on a multitude of islands in the Pacific. These include the Philippines, Guadalcanal, Singapore and many others. Being a history buff, I do have to point out one thing. While fighting in the Philippines, the US Marines were not using M1 Garands. They considered them "a mickey mouse piece of **** The game should have given you a Springfield which is what they really used, rather than the Garand. But to anybody just looking to shoot some Japanese, don't worry about it. Sometimes in the game, you will shoot an enemy, and he will hop around or spin around. You can't really tell if they are dead. This was a problem in Call of Duty: Finest Hour as well. Graphics are another problem. Character models were alright, but the jungle environments were very bad. Sound, however, was a different story. It sounded amazing. All of the guns and explosions were awesome. If you are looking for a good World War ll shooter, look no further than Rising Sun.
