I am happy to see such a surge in shooters placed in modern settings. As much as I enjoyed the deluge of World War II titles, there is something about a modern setting that helps me connect to the characters more.
I really enjoyed Modern Warfare and its sequal, but definitely left my desk feeling like I had just experienced a Michael Bay popcorn flick during the summer. There was a lot of flash and hard-to-believe content, but overall it was a wild fun ride. Medal of Honor takes an opposite approach to this. Despite the similarities in the branch of the soldiers and the modern settings, Medal of Honor comes across as a more realistic and homage to the Special Forces soldiers out there. Enjoy each game for what they are, not for what you think they should be.
One noteworthy feature of this game is the audio. For somebody who has spent such little time around firearms, the single player audio made me feel like I was actually in the middle of a firefight.
That being said, the multiplayer is crap. I was involved in the beta test in which I voiced my opinion along with many others, but the developers went in a different direction. While I can't really single out why the multiplayer is so boring, I know the feeling of "meh" when I encounter it.
Note: this game is short. The time I spent playing was probably around four hours, and that was to completion on medium difficulty.
