Better than Dynasty Warriors.
Gameplay is pretty straight forward. Get a weapon, find the key, open the door, fight some bad guys. Throw in some puzzle like elements and you have a decent game. But I do have to agree with most reviewers that it is not easy to judge where you are. For example, you can (and need to) use a wooden club with a flame to solve some of the simpler puzzles. The problem is you too can catch fire if you get too close to the flame. I set myself on fire a lot, but that's OK because I save a lot.
Another thing that I didn't like was the aiming system for the ranged weapons. I've pretty much sworn off ranged weapons. I stood at the edge of an area I unlocked and just unloaded with a crossbow. I don't think I hit anything, but I could see them all clearly.
I loved the graphics and the story. I thought the selection of weapons was great for a small game. One feature that really ticked me off at first but later came to like was that some enemies could steal the weapon I was holding. Once I started hitting the start button faster and stopping the creature from disappearing forever with my weapons, I found this feature to be a pleasant distraction.
When it comes down to it, if you look at my collection I really don't have any Mario Sunshine type games for my PSP, even though I like them. On my XBox, I loved VooDoo Vince. I ended up buying this game because it reminded me of that game. That and I had a great coupon I didn't want to waste. The storyline, music and graphics are great and the game play is just enough to be keeping me up a little late at night.
