Mega Man 2 improves on the first game, and is overall better, that's about all you can ask for in a sequel.

Mega Man 2 is better than the first game, it's not as cheap in it's difficulty, of course, again, it is Mega Man after all, so there's plenty of challenge here. Some of the robot masters here are among the series best. You know, there's something I dread in just about every Mega Man game, it varies, like the Yellow Devil in the first and third game, and the purple room in this one. That's right, the purple room, which demands perfection, you cannot miss one shot with the only effective weapon, if you do, might as well kill yourself and start over. The game does not mess around, pitch perfect jumps are often required, and one level demands a certain level of speed, you hesitate, you're dead. Yeah, that's Quick Man's stage, so it makes sense, but still, be on your toes.

I'm feeling pretty good about myself right now, I've beat Mega Man 1-4 these last couple of days, I may even return and try to beat Mega Man 9, I reached the shifting blob boss, I hate those shifting blob enemies in the series. MM2 has impressive bosses and moments, such as the last Dr. Wily fight, that was a pretty awesome moment. I love this game, and it could very well be my favorite Mega Man game on the NES. I hope Mega Man 5 is released on the Virtual Console soon. This is a great walk down memory lane, only now I have the skills to actually finish the games.
