Believe the hype. Series defining bosses and memorable levels make this a shining star in NES platforming.
- Mega Man 2 seemed to have just smoothed out the blueprint laid by the first one.
- The levels are just hard enough that you want to beat them, not shut the console off.
- The Robot Masters are some of the most recognizable and memorable.
- The music is exciting (a quick search on Youtube will yield dozens of guitar covers from the soundtrack, especially Dr. Wily's stage.)
- The length and intensity of the final battle can best be described as 'epic'.
The few things that could be classified as problems (but that I found to be endearing) are:
- Some of the bosses require specific weapons to damage. This means a conservation stadegy is of utmost importance.
- If you pause while on a ladder (for instance, to change power weapons) you will start to fall and need to catch yourself when you resume gameplay.
This game will not disappoint. Dust off the NES and play today!
