I've been arguing with my friends recently how single-player games nowadays don't match up to the classic SP games from the NES-SNES era. The Mega Man series is one of those games where you can sit down when you're alone and really enjoy yourself trying to time your moves right to finish the game.

Mega Man 9 has all the great features from the original Mega Man NES games: boss battles, disappearing platforms, pits, tricky enemies, and Rush! But to me the most important feature that has returned is the music. I used to play Mega Man games just because of the catchy music in the background. The levels are all unique to the bosses and each have varied difficulties, I have yet to finish the game but it is very hard not for the inexperienced in 2D games. So for you kids that have been playing Assassin's Creed, Ratchet and Clank, and Mario Galaxy here's a real tough side-scroller to really test your skills.
