Just like old times
Graphics- 7/10 While incredibly inferior to today's standards, I give extra points because Capcom actually wanted the game to look as close to the original as possible. Even going as far as mimicking the sprite-flickering found in NES games. It's not beautiful by any means, but if it's what they were intentionally going for then it's perfect. The one thing I was a bit disappointed about was the character designs however. Some of the new robots look cool; Tornado Man, Concrete Man and Magma Man, but the rest look a bit, goofy. But then again, many Mega Man bosses have looked goofy.
Presentation- 7/10 Again, it feels very old-school, even with all the menus and the "waiting" for the text to finish before you can move your icon in the item purchasing screen. It really feels like an NES Mega Man game (except for save screens, leaderboards, etc)
Sound- 8.5/10 Just like many Mega Man games in the past, MM9 has a great selection of catchy tunes in each stage. Capcom even captured the old-school mono-phone sound, so when you fire, the music will pause for a second. Everything sounds familiar in sound effects as well.
Replay Value- 8.5/10 Online Leaderboards, difficult achievements plus in-game challenges, Capcom has also recently released a ProtoMan Mode and an endless mode (which challenges players to get as far as they can with no end in sight)
