Impossible Gameplay, 8 Bosses, World Domination, Man in Blue Tights, Cheezy Cover Art. Yep, must be Mega Man.

User Rating: 8.5 | Mega Man 9 PS3
While most games with new sequels seem to go forward with graphics and gameplay, Capcom decided it best to go backwards, WAY BACKWARDS, like Mega Man 2 backwards. You basically get the following from that: Impossible Gameplay, No charge or dash attack, and a store to buy items from. I played this game imagining it to be easier than it really is. Took me about an hour to find a level that I could be, and then 3 minutes to beat the next. To sum it up:

The Good: Nostalgic Gameplay. Additional Challenges like Time Attack. The Mega Man we all know and love. Each Level is diverse and plays diffferently, but are all challenging. The first female robot master (good or bad depends on how much you like change). The ability to buy DLC. Achievement System is diverse, ranging from simple (like defeat a boss with Mega Buster) to impossible (beat the game 5 times in one day)

The Bad: It is near impossible to beat (it can be a good thing to, but your thumbs WILL be sore before you beat this game, and I guarantee you will not beat a level on your first try). Storyline is simple, and not full of twists (we all know Wily is really the man behind this). Still not the Mega Man that branches this series and X.

The Ugly: Buying new difficulties and modes is really a dumb idea used to milk the fans of all their money (come on, buying a new difficulty when the main mode is hard enough). The Boss weakness chart makes no sense (You would think Jewel Man is strong against Concrete Man because of the idea that Diamonds can cut through strong material, but he isn't). Nearly Impossible to beat (a hard game is one thing, but come on, this is the hardest game I have played to date, and I have played some hard games).

Replayabilty: A- (It has a bunch of modes and an achievement system, but buying more modes to increase the replayability just sets me off, no matter how cheap it is)
Gameplay: B+ (Makes you nostalgic for Mega Man 2, but once again is Nigh Impossible to Beat)
Graphics: A+ (Has the graphics and downfalls of the NES era, complete with sprite flicker and slowdown)
Sound: A+ (Sounds like it came right from the 8-bit era)
Controls: A- (The controls are good, but at times I felt as though they were unresponsive)
Singleplayer: A (The Mega Man we all know, with the 8 bosses, a multi-level finale, but it feels a little similar)
Multiplayer: N/A (Except for leaderboards, but that doesn't count)
Overall: A (Great, old school game, but the difficulty may set some off. Needed a demo so people would know what they were getting themselves into)
